les adieux: saying goodbye to my childhood home

as i prepared to move back to chicago this week, i also said goodbye to my childhood home as my parents will be moving further downtown in a few months, onto a beautiful old street in walking distance of their works in toronto. i'm excited for the move - i've always wanted to live within walking distance of all my favourite shops and spots. however, it was a bit nostalgic saying goodbye to the lovely home i've lived in since i was six years old.

here are a few pictures of my beautiful house:

i always considered myself lucky to live down the street from a castle! as a kid, playing cinderella games where she would gaze at the castle, i could literally look outside my window and see casa loma, toronto's eccentric castle built in the late 19th century by sir henry pellatt.

something we'll all miss is the garden. my mum spent hours planting and tending to it and it was a child's paradise.

our street is filled with bucolic canopies of trees.

we were also luckily only a couple blocks from a great public school that all of my siblings attended. go tigers!

our sunny kitchen.

my favourite blue bathroom.

when i moved in, i realized the last girl who lived in my room had written her name in a cool graffiti style. naturally i did the same and hopefully the next kid to live there will too!

it's been swell, house. i'm sure i'll come jogging past you for visits from time to time.
