i keep hearing from people over and over - your twenties are such a hard time of life. which seems funny, doesn't it? we're all probably at our most attractive stage of our lives, a lot of us have the luxury of being in school, we don't have huge familial obligations... we have a lot of freedom! however, they have proved to have their stresses! and as this ted talk, why thirty is not the new twenty points out, maybe that's for the best.
as someone who managed to be happy-go-lucky for the first twenty years of her life, these past few years of twenty-dom have been filled with finding ways to rediscover that happy-go-lucky-ness.
my favourite relaxation techniques lately have included:
- jogging by lake michigan in my area
- seeking out pretty, peaceful areas for quiet walks in the middle of my days...
- listening to my two amazing meditation apps, calm & buddhify.
basically these apps give me a minute to listen to my breathing, regroup when i'm feeling stressed out, and wish myself and others well. this morning on my jog i had a nice british man in my ear telling me to wish everyone i passed by to "have a lovely day." felt really good :)
anywho, i'm thrilled because one of my oldest friends is coming in to town for the weekend to celebrate our tenth anniversary of friendship! it's so nice to have people you've grown up with still in your lives... we're very similar in some ways, very different in others. she is one of the most thoughtful, kind, fun people i've ever met and i'm so lucky to have her in my life. time for some brunch to celebrate! (what else?)
